If its been less than 6 years, its a very high sucess rate. I think it drops to 75%-80% in the 7-10 bracket, and continues lower from there. Alot of it has to do with the skill of the surgeon and his reattachment methods. But before you go picking out baby names, he needs to go in for an appointment to see if his vas deferens (spelling horrid, i know) are even long enough for a re-attachment. But I know a guy that had it done 6 years ago and has his wife preggy within 30 days of his surgery. Just make sure you pick a specialist that does at least 1 reversal per week.

In Rochester, MN the success rate is at 90%!

My husband has a vasectomy after our third baby, the doctor told him that to reverse it was costly, painful and not always successful, good luck!!

Be careful, there are two success rates to consider.

1) The success rate of there being sperm in your semen. This rate is what a Dr might give you a guarantee on and it can be pretty high, 80% or better.

2) The success rate that there is ENOUGH sperm in your semen to get a woman pregnant. Much lower and not likely to get a Dr to gauantee that.

Good Luck.

It is about 80% on an average however it goes down 10% for every year since he had it done. I had one about 14 years ago and looked into a reversal but the doc said I was at about a 10% on a good day since so much time had passed.
